Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk (warm, about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large eggs
For the filling:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
For the icing:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients.
- Gradually add the remaining flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the Dough:
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Assemble the Rolls:
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches).
- Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly on top.
