Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk (warm, about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs

For the filling:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)

For the icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients.
  • Gradually add the remaining flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  1. Knead the Dough:
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  1. Prepare the Filling:
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  1. Assemble the Rolls:
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches).
  • Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly on top.
  • Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
  1. Cut the Rolls:
  • Cut the log into 12 equal slices. Place them in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan, leaving some space between each roll.
  1. Second Rise:
  • Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.
  1. Bake:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  1. Prepare the Icing:
  • While the rolls are baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  1. Serve:
  • Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes, then drizzle the icing on top. Enjoy warm!
