Classic Tiramisu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the coffee mixture:
  • 1 cup (240ml) brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • For the mascarpone mixture:
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup (160ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (240g) mascarpone cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For assembly:
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies (savoiardi)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Coffee Mixture: In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside to cool.
  2. Make the Mascarpone Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture, then fold in the whipped cream until fully combined.
  3. Assemble the Tiramisu: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they’re soaked but not soggy. Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×9-inch (or similar size) dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  4. Chill: Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) to let the flavors meld.
  5. Serve: Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings, if desired. Cut into squares and enjoy!

This indulgent dessert is perfect for any occasion! Enjoy your tiramisu!
